I have a problem with plastic, well actually the world has a problem with plastic.
This image ( above ) has been floating around on the net for a while. I have to admit, I don't know who created it. But it tells the story well I think.
Plastic is such an everyday use-able but so much of it not degradable. In the retail industry this becomes painfully apparent. Clothing from manufacturers usually come packaged, in plastic. In the beginning I did what most of us do. I put it in the rubbish. But it started to really bother me. Coffs Harbour do not recycle soft plastic. After a while my conscience got the better of me. I stopped putting it in the rubbish. I started collecting it and bringing it home. I am not a hoarder by nature but I have become a hoarder of plastic.
You can't see it in this photo but I have boxes of it. A friend suggested I crochet shopping bags or maybe a very large mat of some kind, in my spare time. Self employed and Spare time, oh, there's an oxymoron, right there. I don't think there will be much crocheting for me any time soon.
No the plastic has to go, the only question is where to. But where there's a will there's a way and I hope to find someone that wants what I have......... Will keep you posted on any progress. In the mean time I shall keep filling boxes with the stuff and keep stuffing them in my workroom.
